Giclée Prints
These type of prints are high-quality and archival, produced on ink-jet printers with pigment inks. The name giclée (French – pronounced zhee-clay)) refers to the process the printer uses in forcing the ink through tiny nozzles but is also now the name of the print itself. Colors of the originals, in this case digital images, can be beautifully rendered and different effects can be accomplished by printing on various papers, canvas and even metal. My prints are currently available on two kinds of paper and canvas.
The prints are not matted or framed and need to be handled carefully to preserve their archival quality (for instance, making sure that oil from your skin does not ruin the print). You or a professional framer will mat and frame the print or “stretch” the ones printed on canvas. In the future I will have framing options as well.
Sizes
All prints are available in both 8” x 10” or 11” x 14” with white borders of about 1 1/2”.
Paper
Vibrant Luster archival paper has a lovely sheen that makes the image glow.
Elegance Platinum Archival Rag watercolor archival paper has a softer, subtler look, and has a slight texture to it.
Both show the same image detail and come with white borders for ease of mounting.
Canvas
Lyve – cotton/polyester duct canvas is archival. The prints come sprayed with matte varnish to preserve the inks. The edges of the print are made to wrap around a stretcher frame, in other words they have a border that continues the picture around the edge. Please contact me if you are interested in a canvas print and specify the size.
